Experience with Children's Issues

Zoie has worked with individuals and groups of various ages and their families in several settings such as private clinics, schools, hospital settings, correctional facilities, and community-based settings. She is experienced in working collaboratively with other health professionals including Psychologists, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Doctors and school faculty with the aim to achieve the best outcome. Zoie also engages with the child’s parents, carers and educators to ensure strategies are being reinforced outside of therapy hours.

What Approach Does Zoie Take?

Zoie strives to be person-centred, occupation-centred, theory-driven and evidence-based in her practice.

Zoie is a strong believer that we must first understand the person before we address the challenge. She uses relevant theoretical models and frameworks to consider all areas of a person’s life, considering environmental factors, occupation factors, and person factors to understand what’s meaningful to the individual person. This person-centred approach enables Zoie to individualise therapy. She recognises that no two people, conditions or experiences are ever the same, therefore adapts her therapy to acknowledge the individual needs of the person.

Occupations, simple or complex, are those things we need, want or are expected to do in our every-day life. Zoie’s unique lens allows her to highlight the barriers and enablers to achieve these occupations and draw from these to apply a strengths-based approach to therapy. Furthermore, Zoie aims to maintain her currency in literature and evidence to ensure her therapy techniques are relevant and appropriate in all situations.

What if my therapist isn't the right fit for me?

If at any time you feel your therapist just isn’t the right fit, that’s perfectly OK! We won’t be upset, in fact, we would rather you be honest so we can help find you another therapist to cater to your needs!

We pride ourselves in building strong relationships with each individual.  Sometimes this relationship can take time to build, so we ask that you please allow for a minimum of 3 sessions to give this relationship a chance to sparkle before changing your mind!
